Credentialing Assistance For MedCerts Allied Health and IT Training Programs

UMKC Supports Our Military Families

UMKC stands as a dedicated Military Friendly School, offering service members and their families access to higher education and careers that are both in high demand and portable.

UMKC Talentlink powered by MedCerts 30+ allied health and IT programs is recognized as an official provider for the Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard Credentialing Assistance Programs, aimed at enhancing skills and facilitating transitions into civilian roles.

Additionally, spouses of Active Duty Service Members can access the MyCAA scholarship, a Department of Defense program offering up to $4,000 in financial aid, promoting the pursuit of educational credentials leading to sought-after, transferable careers. The enrollment team, composed entirely of Military Veterans, ensures tailored program recommendations for prospective students.

Army Credentialing Assistance

The Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) program (COOL) helps soldiers find information on certifications and licenses related to their jobs. The program can pay for courses and exams that lead to industry-recognized civilian credentials in an occupational area of your choice.

Enhance your skills by using this program. The skills can be applied either in your current MOS, or in an occupation you would like to pursue when you leave military service. You can request CA funding for any credential listed on Army COOL. UMKC TalentLink offers approved online programs in healthcare, IT and other skills-driven fields.

Benefits of Air Force COOL

Air Force COOL is a pathway for enlisted Air & Space Force members to earn industry recognized professional certifications, licenses to enhance their active-duty work, and to prepare them as they transition to the civilian job market.

  1. Amount
    Enlisted DAF Members may be eligible for funding up to $4,500 (lifetime) for credentials.
  2. What can funds be used for?
    Payment of credentialing expenses for classroom, hands-on, online/blended training, study guides, materials, textbooks, fees, exams, and/or recertification of credentials.
  3. How to enroll:

Login to your AFVEC account, click on Education Programs then select AF COOl. Explore UMKC TalentLink credential(s) you may be interested in.

  • Click “Create Education Goal”
  • Click “Apply for Funding” and follow the prompts.
  • Wait for supervisor approval.
