This workshop will be held online in two parts.
Part 1: Wednesday, March 23 | 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Part 2: Saturday, March 26 | 9:00am – 12:00pm

Working with Data to Make Decisions
This non-technical introduction to data analytics presents data science as a process that can be leveraged for strategic decision making. Participants will not only learn the terminology of data science, but more importantly consider the big questions that they should be asking in their organizations.
- An introduction to the data analytics industry,
- Comprehensive overview of the data analysis process,
- Common analytics strategies, and
- Basic manipulation and analysis of data in Excel
Dr. Alex Francisco (PhD, University of Missouri–Kansas City) is the senior population health scientist at the Kansas City Health Department. He is the director of the Office of Population Health Science and Statistics, where he uses data analytics to research, understand, and improve the health of populations within Kansas City. His current efforts utilize computational modelling to best aid the KCMO COVID-19 response.
