UMKC TalentLink Community Launch

Jennifer Schnack, Vice President of Employee Talent, Development & Experience at T-Mobile, recently delivered keynote remarks at UMKC TalentLink’s Community Launch. Schnack emphasized the importance of talent development and training to optimize workforces. TalentLink Executive Director Jake Akehurst also discussed the need for training and professional development that helps individuals advance their career and enables businesses to upskill employees and stay competitive.

“TalentLink and their commitment to bringing transformative solutions to the table while supporting our community through impactful engagement is near and dear to my heart. Those are key focus areas of our Talent Development strategy and Employee Experience focus at T-Mobile,” Schnack said. To attract, retain and grow top talent, career development and learning needs are top of mind for T-Mobile’s leaders and employees. The company prioritizes “providing them with the skills to evolve their career, advance their expertise, and deepen their commitment to personal and professional growth.”

At the Community Launch, Akehurst also highlighted the critical need to strengthen job skills in today’s market. “Businesses that invest in training are better able to retain workers and enhance the employee experience,” Akehurst said. “Professional development helps businesses grow and compete. Our team provides expert-led professional development for businesses and individuals, including active-duty military and veterans. Our courses are short-term and affordable.”

TalentLink highlights this year include the rollout of a newly redesigned website, launch of a streamlined registration system that makes it easier to register for courses, and the announcement of a partnership with South Kansas City’s Workforce Development Center. A new partnership with MedCerts will soon enable TalentLink to offer more than 30 online, allied healthcare certifications to build skills, earn credentials, and launch careers.
